Kanji, is one of the three beautiful scripts used in Japanese writing. The other two are Hiragana and Katakana. There is also a fourth writing style which utilizes 'Roman Letters' known as Romaji.

Kanji characters are thousand-plus 'Chinese characters' that can carry multiple definitions that represent words or ideas, and that can have different meanings and pronunciations depending on their context.

These characters are typically used with other Kanji characters as well as Hiragana to help reduce long sentences, by actually making the sentences much more legible.

(I know, that last statement doesn't sound believable, right?)
